LIONS CLUB HOLDING FUNDRAISING RUMMAGE SALE

ONEIDA, N.Y. -- The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club is holding their first annual
rummage sale on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 at the home of
Lion Brenda Manseri at 4862 Route 365.

The sale will benefit their projects for the sight and hearing impaired.

Donations for the sale will be accepted through Wednesday, May 11 and
can be brought to Manaseri’s house or dropped off at the Madison House
Restaurant on Madison Street in Oneida. No items are too small and
furniture is also welcome.

EAT SPAGHETTI, SUPPORT THE LIONS CLUB

ONEIDA, N.Y. -- The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club will serve their annual spaghetti supper on April 12 at the Madison House Restaurant.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and is a fundraiser for the club’s scholarships and youth programs. The menu features the Madison House's famed spaghetti with meatballs or sausage, Italian bread, salad, beverage, and desserts homemade by Lions members themselves.

Takeouts are available.
Tickets are $8 and available from any chapter member or at the door. The Madison House is located at 140 Madison Street in Oneida. For more information, call King Lion Jerry Baker at 363-7664, Lion Pat Fearon at 363-8997, or Lion Mike Jaquays at 280-0692.

MEETING MINUTES FEB 8, 2011


MINUTES FOR LIONS CLUB MEETING OF FEB. 8, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by King Lion Jerry Baker, with these members in attendance:
Secretary Mike Jaquays, Treasurer Leif Nicolaisen, and Lions Loyal Canning, Hal Chamberlain, John Costello, Jennifer Cummings, Tony Eppolito, Ernie Giraud, Charlie Leclau, Pete Luvera, Brenda Manaseri, John Musgrove, Doug Rosekrans, and Lou White. Also present was our special guest speaker Nick Staffiero of the Chittenango chapter.

The 50/50 awarded $23.50 to LION JOHN COSTELLO.
The clip tray brought in $18.

LION MIKE gave his secretary’s report.
LION LEIF gave his treasurer’s report.

LION LEIF reported there are still 64 ETC books out, and money or the books should be turned in ASAP.

LION BRENDA updated the Lions on the upcoming tag sale, planned for the end of April. She also said our next meeting would feature a buffet dinner.

LION NICK gave a presentation on his volunteer service in Kenya.

The next meeting will be a spouses’ night and welcome guest speaker Linda Bailey of Better Hearing in Oneida.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

BUY RAFFLE TICKETS !

The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club is currently selling raffle tickets to raise funds for their projects for the sight and hearing impaired.

Tickets are $2 each or $5 for three, and 1st prize is a $150 gift certificate to Herb Philipsons, 2nd prize is a $50 gift certificate from Thompsons Appliance, and 3rd prize is a $25 gift certificate from the Madison House restaurant. The drawing will be May 24 and winners will be notified by telephone.

To buy tickets, see your favorite Lion or stop by Kime Home Center on Route 5 in Oneida Castle Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays. 

TRACEE SCHIEBEL SHARING STORIES FROM ARGENTINA TRIP

The guest speaker at our March 8 meeting will be Tracee Schiebel, a Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School senior and New York State FFA Vice-president. Tracee recently made a trip to Argentina to learn about their agriculture and will be sharing highlights from her tour of their farms and auctions. She will be accompanied by her uncle, Lions Club Past District Governor Jim Schiebel.

LION DOUG'S AARP DRIVER SAFETY CLASS

Oneida-Sherrill Lion Doug Rosekrans has announced the time requirement for his upcoming AARP driver safety class has been reduced from eight hours to six hours.

The class will be held at the Rusty Rail in Canastota on Wednesday, March 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Pre-registration is required by sending a check in the amount of $10 made out to the Rusty Rail and a second check of $14, or $12 with an AARP member number, made out to the AARP to instructor Dr. Doug Rosekrans at 6998 Nelson Rd., Canastota, N.Y. 13032.

Lunch is served at noon. Please be on time by 9:30 a.m. and bring your driver’s license and a pen. The Rusty Rail is handicapped-accessible.

This driver improvement program emphasizes safe, defensive and mature driving as well as a wealth of information aimed at reducing traffic accidents and incidents. Additional benefits include an insurance discount and when applicable, points reductions.
