BOARD MEETING POSTPONED

Hi Lions,

    After planning our next board meeting for April 1 at our last meeting, Honest Bob and I both found we are already booked for that evening, so we will have to cancel it. How about a short board meeting right before our next regular Lions meeting? Maybe we could meet at 6 p.m. instead of 6:30. What do you think? And, as always, board meetings are open -- but not mandatory -- for all Lions who want to join us.

    Our next speaker will be Terri Welcher, volunteer coordinator from Oneida Healthcare. See you there!

ZONE MEETING THIS TUESDAY!

     Just a reminder that there is a Zone Meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Savoy in Rome at 6:30 p.m. I took a preliminary headcount at the last meeting, but for car pooling purposes could everybody who wants to go respond to this email also? King Lion Brenda, Lion Pat, Lion Doug (who, if you haven't heard, was one of the poor passengers on the recent "typhoid cruise" where he was violently ill for five days straight) and Honest Bob have already responded that they won't be able to make it. Our next meeting is a spouses night and will feature Jody Luce, the "Tailor of Peterboro," talking about the Civil War-era outfits she creates. It'll be fun! See you all on Dec. 10.

AREA STUDENTS HELP LIONS HELP OTHERS

(Photo by Mike Jaquays) The members of the Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club had much-appreciated help during their annual pancake breakfast on Nov. 3 at the Knights of Columbus building in Oneida. Students from the Canastota Lions Club’s Leos chapter, plus some other community youngsters as well, assisted the Lions in serving breakfast and cleaning tables during the fundraising event. Front row, from left, are Oneida High School students Jillian Yardley, Nichole Scholl, and Taylor Frisicano; and back row, from left, Paige Pickard, Cassidy Cavanaugh, Shae D’Arcangelis, Maddie Hale, and Katie Carroll. BROOMS FOR SALE!

Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club new member Wendy Chamberlain poses in lion garb with one of the brand-new brooms the club is now selling as a fundraiser for the sight and hearing impaired. 

LOCAL LIONS RAISING FUNDS FOR SIGHT AND HEARING IMPAIRED

ONEIDA >> The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club is again offering brooms for sale in an effort to raise funds to aid the sight and hearing impaired in the Oneida area.

     The money raised by the sales will help pay for eye exams and glasses and also hearing aids for the needy.
