Minutes of Officer Installation meeting of 6/14/11


MINUTES OF THE LIONS CLUB MEETING OF 6/14/11
Submitted by Lion Mike Jaquays

The meeting was called to order at the Madison House restaurant in Oneida at 7 p.m. by King Lion Jerry Baker with these members in attendance: Treasurer Leif Nicolaisen, Secretary Mike Jaquays, and Lions Loyal Canning, Hal Chamberlain, Pat Fearon, Charlie Leclau, Brenda Manseri, Ed Miller, Doug Rosekrans, Ed Thoma, Bob Visalli, and Lou White, plus special guests Sukosh Fearon and Zone Chair Paul Haynes.

LION MIKE gave the secretary’s report, and it was accepted as presented.

LION LEIF gave the treasurer’s report, and it was accepted as presented.

KL JERRY said he received a thank you letter from the Oneida Public Library for our donation of $500 for materials for the sight impaired.

KL JERRY updated the group on the woman in need of financial assistance to purchase hearing aids, and said the 20Y2 could also offer a grant. The club’s expected expense was $250 and the group accepted it unanimously.

LION BOB thanked the Lions for helping with the senior picnic, and gave kudos to Steve Long of the CAC in Sherrill for his work. He suggested a $25 gift certificate for Steve and the bus driver and the membership agreed. LION BOB also suggested having a bus stop at Noyes Manor.

ZONE CHAIR PAUL gave an update on the goings-on in the zone, and officially installed the 2011-2012 club officers:

SARA GETMAN IS OUR FIRST SPEAKER OF THE SEASON

Hey Lions! The speaker for the 9/27 meeting will be Sara Getman, the recreation supervisor for the city of Sherrill. Her subject matter will be geared towards recreational opportunities for seniors, and she would like your input regarding programs you would like to see in the future.

Upcoming speakers will also include John Ready, retired U.S. Army major talking about his Veteran Images website and John Maxey, co-owner of the Dwarfline Motel in Verona Beach, discussing his book on the people they've met in the hospitality industry.
