MINUTES FROM 11/8/11

LIONS CLUB MINUTES NOV. 8, 2011
The regular monthly meeting of the Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club was called to order by King Lion Pat Fearon at 7 p.m. at the Madison House Restaurant with these Lions in attendance: Jerry Baker, Hal Chamberlain, Ernie Giraud, Mike Jaquays, Charlie Leclau, Brenda Manaseri, Ed Miller, Leif Nicolaisen, John Perretta, Joe Shay, and Bob Visalli, plus our perpetual guest Sukosh Fearon and speaker Jennifer Milligan from the Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library.

LION MIKE gave the secretary’s report, and it was accepted as submitted. He also told the Lions the photo of most of our teen helpers at the pancake breakfast appeared in the Oneida Dispatch on Nov. 7, and he will send letters to their guidance counselors.

HONEST BOB reported on the pancake breakfast, saying we were tentatively expecting $2426 in net profit, mostly from the ad sales, and $121.50 from the bake sale.

LION LEIF suggested we invite the teenagers who helped us to a meeting or the spaghetti dinner, and the Lions agreed.
KL PAT read thank you letters from Leo Matzke from the Madison County Childrens Camp and from student Trevor Haskell for donations.

KL PAT asked the group to start thinking about the after-holidays get-together and where we would like to go. HONEST BOB offered to head it up, and the Lions decided on a price range around $20-25 a person.

JENNIFER gave an overview of the offerings for the sight and hearing impaired at the library, and a preview of what we might see in the future. The Lions presented her with a $500 donation.

The 50/50 awarded $18 to LION ED.

The clip tray brought in $13.15.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

ONEIDA-SHERRILL LIONS CLUB
Meeting minutes 10/25/2011
The regular meeting of the club was called together by King Lion Pat Fearon at the Madison House Restaurant at 7 p.m. with these members in attendance: Bill Brewer, Loyal Canning, Hal Chamberlain, Mike Jaquays, Charlie Leclau, Pete Luvera, Brenda Manaseri, John Musgrove, Leif Nicolaisen, Grace Peretta, John Perretta, Ed Thoma, and Bob Visalli, plus our perpetual guest Sukosh Fearon and speaker John Maxey and his wife Merle.

LION MIKE gave the secretary’s report, and it was accepted as read.

LION PETE L gave the treasurer’s report, and it was accepted as read.

LION JOHN P told the group the ads for the pancake breakfast placemats were in and thanked the Lions for selling them. They raised a record $2005 this year.

LION BOB passed around a sign up sheet for the pancake breakfast, and reminded the Lions not to forget the bake sale.

LION HAL suggested we invite the Leos from the Oneida High School to join us; LION MIKE said his daughter Samantha and her friends will also be there. HOPE volunteered her daughter as well.

LION HAL reported that LION LOU is recovering well from his hip surgery.

The next meeting was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday to Monday, because of Election Night and then scheduling conflicts.

LION LEIF said to remember to collect used stamps.

JOHN MAXEY gave a presentation on his Overnight Stay book, describing the characters he‘s met running the Dwarfline Motel in Verona Beach.

THE CLIP TRAY brought in $16.

THE 50/50 AWARDED $18 to LION JOHN P.

The regular meeting of the club was called together by King Lion Pat Fearon at the Madison House Restaurant at 7 p.m. with these members in attendance: Jerry Baker, Hal Chamberlain, Jennifer Cummings, Mike Jaquays, Charlie Leclau, Pete Luvera, Brenda Manaseri, John Musgrove, Leif Nicolaisen, John Perretta, Ed Thoma, and Lou White, plus our perpetual guest Sukosh Fearon and speaker John Ready.

LION JOHN P told the group the ads and payment for the pancake breakfast placemats needed to be in within two weeks, and $1505 was raised to that point.

LION LEIF said he still had Enjoy the City books available, and the Lions would receive $8 profit for every book sold.

LION MIKE gave the secretary’s report, and it was accepted as read.

LION PETE gave the treasurer’s report, and it was accepted as read.

Retired Army Major JOHN READY gave a presentation on his Veterans Images blog, describing how the Internet column preserves the stories of veterans.

THE CLIP TRAY brought in $15.

THE 50/50 AWARDED $20 to LION JENNIFER.
