LIONS MEETING ROOM ROCKS!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST RETURNS

LIONS HOST ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST

ONEIDA-The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club’s annual pancake breakfast returns on Nov. 4, offering not only a good meal cooked and served by the Lions themselves but the chance to help out a great cause at the same time.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Lions’ projects in improving the lives of sight and hearing challenged persons both locally and all over the world. The menu includes pancakes, syrup, sausage, juice, and coffee. For dessert guests are invited to visit their bake sale, where Lions and their significant others have cooked up some tasty treats.

The breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus building at 164 Madison Street in Oneida. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for kids under 12 and senior citizens, and available from any chapter member or at the door.

ONEIDA-SHERRILL LIONS CLUB
MINUTES FROM 10/9/12

The regular meeting was called to order by KING LION PAT Fearon at the Madison House Restaurant at 7 p.m., with these Lions in attendance:
Jerry Baker, Hal Chamberlain, Pete Dwyer, Mike Jaquays, Pete Luvera, Brenda Manaseri, Ed Miller, John Musgrove, Leif Nicolaisen, Ed Thoma, Bob Visalli, and Lou White, our perpetual guest Sukosh Fearon, his parents Bob and Ada Mae Fearon, and our special guest speaker Patti McGee .

LION BOB said he would pass around a sign-up for the pancake breakfast at the next meeting, and that $1900 has already come in for placemat ads. Money should be turned in to LION ED THOMA.

KING LION PAT reminded the Lions there would be a bake sale and said we are also expecting syrup from Bill Magee.

KING LION PAT announced the next meeting was our membership drive night and to bring a friend who might be interested in joining.

LION MIKE gave the two latest secretary’s reports and they were accepted.

LION PETE gave the treasurer’s report and it was accepted.

PATTI MCGEE gave a presentation on the health benefits of essential oils.

LION LEIF said the stamp collection goes on, as well as sales of the Enjoy the City books.

LION MIKE said he would procure Lions membership cards and brochures before the next meeting.

The clip tray raised $15.

The 50/50 raffle awarded $19 to Ada Mae Fearon.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

MINUTES FROM 9/25/12

The regular meeting was called to order by KING LION PAT Fearon at the Madison House Restaurant at 7 p.m., with these Lions in attendance:
Loyal Canning, Hal Chamberlain, Mike Jaquays, Brenda Manaseri, Ed Miller, Leif Nicolaisen, John Perretta, Doug Rosekrans, Ed Thoma, and Lou White, and members of the Chittenango Lions and the Tri-Valley VIPS including speaker Tom Baker plus our perpetual guest Sukosh Fearon.

KING LION PAT presented the donation check for $300 to COLLEEN BENNETT from KEYS Program.

LION MIKE gave an update of the upcoming programs and asked the Lions to choose the date for spouses night. It was decided by majority vote it will be Nov. 27 and the presentation on the new Oneida Library project.

LION ED said $1000 had been collected for ads so far, and deadline will be the Oct. 23 meeting.

TOM BAKER gave an overview of the Tri-Valley VIPs and their activities, added by LION DOUG.

KING LION PAT presented TOM with the tickets for the Oneida Area Arts Council and Civic Chorale events, as well as this year’s donation for $200.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.

SUKOSH then asked for a moment of silence and a round of applause for his late friend Barb Fisk.

ONEIDA-SHERRILL LIONS CLUB
MINUTES FROM 9/11/12

The first regular meeting for the 2012-2013 season was called to order by KING LION PAT Fearon at the Madison House Restaurant at 7 p.m., with these Lions in attendance:
Loyal Canning, Hal Chamberlain, Pete Dwyer, Mike Jaquays, Pete Luvera, Brenda Manaseri, Ed Miller, Leif Nicolaisen, Ed Thoma, and Lou White, plus speaker Larry Kent and our perpetual guest Sukosh Fearon.
The membership drive event was planned for the 4th Tuesday of October.

LIONS CHARLIE LECLAU and TONY EPPOLITO were saluted with a round of applause for their Lionism.

Dates for the Fall Conference were announced as Nov. 16-18 at the Sheraton University Inn.

LION PETE L gave the treasurer’s report and it was accepted as read.

LION MIKE gave the secretary’s report and it was accepted as read.

LION MIKE moved to have a donation of $300 given to the KEYS Program and the Lions agreed unanimously.

The Lions continued discussion started by LION JOHN P at the last meeting about donating to the Civic Chorale, and decided unanimously to buy two tickets to each of their three concerts and donate them to the VIPs. Likewise, the Lions decided to buy two tickets to each of the five Oneida Area Arts Council shows and donate them to the VIPs as well.

LION ED THOMA said he will collect money for pancake breakfast ads while LION BOB is away.

LARRY KENT gave a presentation on his work as a gambling addiction counselor.
THE CLIP TRAY brought in $13.00.

THE 50/50 awarded $15 to Lion LEIF.

MINUTES FROM LIONS BOARD MEETING 9/4/12
Called to order at 6 p.m. at the Madison House Restaurant in Oneida by KING LION PAT FEARON with Lions Jerry Baker, Loyal Canning, Hal Chamberlain, Mike Jaquays, Pete Luvera, John Musgrove, Leif Nicolaisen, Grace Perretta, John Perretta, Doug Rosekrans, Lou White.

LION LEIF distributed Enjoy the City books.

LION PETE went over the proposed budget for 2012-2013.

The LIONS agreed when 2 members were from the same family, the second dues would be half-price.

Written reminders will be sent to all Lions still owing dues.

Fundraisers upcoming this season will definitely include the ETC books, the pancake breakfast, the spaghetti supper, and the raffle. Possibly another tag sale. LION BRENDA reported last year’s made $349.

LION JOHN P suggested we give a donation to the Oneida Area Civic Chorale.

LION JOHN M reminded the group our mission was for sight and hearing impaired and the motion was removed from the table.

The VIP meeting was pushed back a meeting to the 2nd meeting of September; LARRY KENT will be approached to speak at the inaugural meeting of 2012-2013.

MINUTES FOR THE ONEIDA-SHERRILL LIONS CLUB
MAY 22, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. at the Madison House Restaurant by KING LION PAT FEARON with these Lions in attendance: Jerry baker, Bill Brewer, Loyal Canning, Hal Chamberlain, Mike Jaquays, Brenda Manseri, John Musgrove, Leif Nicolaisen, Grace Perretta, John Perretta, Ed Thoma, Bob Visalli, and our perpetual guest Sukosh Fearon. Speakers were Dave Black and Windy Mitchell, and scholarship recipients were Megan Ebersold and Mary Gatchell.

KL PAT called for a board of directors meeting the following Tuesday.

LION GRACE suggested next year to make our scholarship night a spouses night and LION MIKE agreed.

LION MIKE gave the secretary‘s report and it was accepted.
 
LION GRACE awarded the scholarships.

DAVE and WINDY told about their efforts with the Mark Monroe Memorial Golf Tournament and their fundraising for cancer education.
HONEST BOB reminded the group the senior picnic is the 1st Sunday in June and to bring three $1 prizes for bingo winners. LION ED M arranged the bus transportation. Grills were offered by LION JOHN M and HONEST BOB and cakes from HONEST BOB, LION LOU and LION ED T.

LION BRENDA reminded the Lions the tag sale was coming on June 8-9 and to gather stuff to sell. Goods can be brought to the her house.

KL PAT reminded the Lions that dues were due, and are currently $65.

The 50/50 awarded $17 to LION JERRY.

The clip tray raised $16.07.

LION MIKE gave the secretary‘s report and it was accepted.

LION BRENDA reminded the Lions the tag sale was coming in June and to gather stuff to sell. Goods can be brought to the Madison House after May 20.

LION JOHN P said the two scholarship winners were expected to attend the next meeting.
