LIONS COMMEND LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
(Photo by Mike Jaquays) The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club awarded scholarships of $500 to two area high school seniors selected for their interest in pursuing higher education in a health-related field at their May 27 meeting. Honored were Michael Fedroff, left, of the Oneida High School, and Anthony Thomas, right, of the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School, seen with scholarship committee chairperson Lion Grace Peretta. Fedroff is a volunteer firefighter with the Oneida Castle department and an Eagle Scout, and plans to attend Mohawk Valley Community College to become a paramedic. Thomas is a member of his school's National Honor Society and president of their Students Against Destructive Decisions chapter, and plans to go to Utica College to study psychology. Cheers to both of this exemplary young men!
